    Measure once, order right

Every mirror is made to order — any size from 3 sq.ft up to 11 ft × 6 ft, at the product's per-sq.ft rate. Three steps, then enter your numbers in the configurator for the exact price.

    How to measure
    1Measure the wall space

Width and height of the clear wall area, in inches. Keep 4″ of wall free on each side.

    2Match your basin

    3Set the height

Centre the mirror at 57″–62″ from the floor. Keep 8″–12″ above the counter.

PDLC Smart Film – Switchable Privacy Glass Film for Windows, Doors and Partitions

PDLC smart film turns any existing sheet of glass into switchable privacy glass. Apply power and the film goes clear for full transparency. Cut the power and it turns opaque white in under a tenth of a second, blocking sight lines while still passing soft, diffused daylight into the room. Nothing moves, nothing mechanical wears out, and the glass you already own stays where it is. That combination is why architects, interior designers and facility managers across India specify switchable film in place of blinds, curtains, frosted glass and solid partition walls.

The product is supplied as a custom-cut switchable film, so it suits both retrofit work on installed glazing and new construction where the film is laminated between two panes at the factory. We supply residential projects, corporate offices, clinics, hotels and retail fit-outs, and we quote per project because the cost of a smart film installation is driven by area and switching hardware rather than by a fixed per-unit price.

How PDLC Switchable Film Actually Works

PDLC stands for Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal. The film carries a layer of microscopic liquid crystal droplets suspended in a clear polymer matrix, sandwiched between two transparent conductive layers. With no voltage applied, those crystals sit at random orientations. Light entering the film hits thousands of differently angled droplets and scatters in every direction, which is what your eye reads as opaque milky white. Apply a low AC voltage across the conductive layers and an electric field forms, the crystals snap into parallel alignment, and light passes straight through the film instead of scattering. The glass reads as clear.

Because the switch is purely electrical, there is no motor, no track, no fabric and no moving assembly to service. The transition is effectively instantaneous and silent, and the film can be cycled tens of thousands of times without mechanical degradation. It also means the default unpowered state is the private state, which is the safer failure mode for a bathroom, changing room or consulting room: a power cut leaves the glass opaque, not transparent.

What Determines PDLC Smart Film Price in India

Smart film is quoted per project rather than sold at a single sticker price, and it is worth understanding why before you compare quotations. Four variables move the number. The first is total switchable area, since film is cut from rolls and larger continuous runs cost less per unit area than many small panes. The second is the number of independently switched zones, because every zone needs its own transformer or driver and its own switch leg, so ten small panes switched separately cost considerably more in hardware than one large pane. The third is the control method: a plain wall switch is the cheapest option, while remote, app and voice-assistant integration each add a controller. The fourth is installation method, where self-adhesive application onto existing glass is far less expensive than laminating film between new glass panes.

Bulk and project pricing is available for architects, interior designers, contractors and dealers, and it differs materially from single-pane retail pricing. If you are pricing a fit-out, send the pane schedule with dimensions and the number of switching zones and you will get a line-item quotation rather than an estimate. We also handle export enquiries, where freight and duty are quoted separately from material cost.

Also Sold Under These Names

The same technology is marketed under a long list of names, which makes searching for it unnecessarily confusing. PDLC film, smart film, smart glass film, switchable film, switchable privacy glass film, electric privacy film, electronic frosted glass film, electric glass frosting film, LCD window film, smart tint and privacy glass film all describe the same polymer dispersed liquid crystal product. If a supplier quotes you on any of those terms, you are being quoted on PDLC. The meaningful differences between products are the light transmission figure in the clear state, the haze level, the driver quality and the number of guaranteed switching cycles, not the trade name printed on the datasheet.

One distinction does matter. PDLC switchable film is not the same as an electrochromic or thermochromic tint, which darkens gradually and is used mainly for solar control. PDLC switches between clear and opaque white for privacy, in milliseconds, and it does not dim the room the way a darkening tint does.

Ideal Applications

ApplicationWhy switchable film suits it
Office and cabin partitionsOpen, daylit floor plate by default with instant privacy for a one-to-one conversation, without building a solid wall
Conference and board roomsConfidential meetings on demand, and the opaque pane doubles as the projection surface
Bathroom and shower glazingPrivacy while in use with natural light retained, and the unpowered default state is opaque
Bedroom and en-suite glass wallsOpen-plan layout that closes off visually at night with a single switch
Retail storefronts and display windowsConceal a window while merchandising, then reveal the display, and project onto the frosted state after hours
Clinics and consulting roomsPatient privacy on demand inside a glazed partition system that still feels open and easy to clean

Choosing Between Self-Adhesive and Laminated Film

Self-adhesive film is applied to the inner face of glass that is already installed. It is the right choice for retrofits, for rented premises, and for any project where replacing the glazing is not practical or not worth the cost. Application is a wet-glazing process and the glass has to be scrupulously clean, so it is worth having it fitted rather than attempting it on a large pane. Edges remain visible on close inspection and the film sits on the room side of the glass, which means it should not be used in a location exposed to standing water or heavy abrasion.

Laminated film is bonded between two sheets of glass during manufacture, producing a sealed switchable glass unit with the film fully protected from moisture, cleaning chemicals and physical damage. It carries a longer practical service life and a cleaner edge detail, and it is the specification of choice for new construction, external glazing and high-traffic commercial partitions. The trade-off is that the glass itself is being replaced, so the unit cost is higher and lead time is longer.

Switchable Film and Smart Mirror Technology

Switchable film sits in the same family of intelligent glass products as our smart mirror range, and the two are frequently specified together in the same project. A switchable partition and a mirror with an integrated display both start from the same idea, that a flat glazed surface should be able to change what it does on command. Where a PDLC partition switches between transparent and private, a smart mirror switches between a plain reflective surface and an active screen. Hotel bathrooms, salon interiors and premium residential fit-outs commonly combine both.

Why Choose LEDMirror for Smart Film Supply

We manufacture and supply intelligent glass and mirror products for projects across India, and smart film is quoted, cut and supported as part of that line rather than treated as a catalogue add-on. Film is cut to your pane schedule, drivers and switching hardware are matched to the zone layout rather than left for the site electrician to work out, and project quantities are priced for project quantities. Architects and contractors get a specification they can issue, dealers get pricing they can resell on, and export enquiries are handled with freight and documentation quoted separately so the material cost stays legible.

To specify PDLC smart film for a project, send the pane dimensions and the number of independently switched zones for a line-item quotation. Custom-cut sizing across our range is covered on our custom-made glass and mirror collection, and the process for submitting dimensions is set out in our guide to ordering custom sizes. For glazed office fit-outs the film is often paired with products from our office mirror range, and projects that combine switchable glass with integrated displays should look at our Android smart mirror with built-in display and our touch-control mirror collection. Trade buyers can find local representation through our dealer network across India, overseas buyers should start with export order enquiries, and any specification question can go straight to our team via the contact page.

Project quotations: WhatsApp +91 98942 33337 or email sales@ledmirror.in with your pane schedule.
